Brainactive FAQ

Everything you need to know about using Brainactive for fast, reliable quantitative research - including when it’s the right tool, how quality is ensured, and how it fits alongside full-service research.

What is Brainactive & When should I use it?

1. What is Brainactive?

Brainactive is an AI-powered, end-to-end DIY market research platform that helps teams move from research objective to decision in days, not weeks. It combines survey design, audience access, fieldwork, and analysis in one place, with built-in quality controls and transparent pricing.

2. How is Brainactive different from other DIY research platforms?

Brainactive is designed for professional-grade research at speed. Unlike lightweight survey tools, it combines:

Research-trained AI assistance (not just form generation)

Access to vetted global audiences when you need them

Built-in fraud prevention and quality checks

Instant feasibility and fixed pricing before launch

Analysis and visualization tools designed for decision-making, not just data export

The focus is not just ease of use, but reliable insights you can defend.

3. Who is Brainactive for?

Brainactive is used by:

Brand and insights teams needing fast, reliable consumer validation

Agencies running quick-turn or parallel projects

Product, marketing, and strategy teams who want more control over timelines and budgets

It is industry-agnostic and works equally well for early idea validation and large-scale quantitative studies.

4. When should I use Brainactive vs working with a full-service research team?

Use Brainactive when speed, flexibility, and direct control matter - such as rapid concept testing, message validation, or iterative decision-making.

Teams typically work with full-service research companies when studies are highly complex, methodologically sensitive, or business-critical, such as large-scale tracking, advanced modeling, or multi-method programs.

Many clients use both: Brainactive for fast, iterative insights, and full-service research for depth and scale.

The right choice depends less on tools and more on decision risk, methodological complexity, and the consequences of being wrong.

5. What is Brainactive not designed for?

Brainactive is not intended to replace every research method. It is not designed for:

Qualitative research such as focus groups or in-depth interviews

Ethnographic or observational studies

Fully automated, black-box decision-making

Brainactive is purpose-built for quantitative, decision-support research, where speed, structure, and data quality are essential.

Surveys & workflow

1. What can I do in Brainactive?

You can design, launch, and analyze quantitative research projects end-to-end. This includes:

Building professional questionnaires with AI or manually

Targeting your own audience or external panels

Running fieldwork with live monitoring

Analyzing results with charts, filters, and comparisons

Exporting data or sharing dashboards

Brainactive adapts to your workflow rather than forcing a single way of working.

2. Why use an AI assistant for survey design?

Speed and clarity matter. Brainactive’s AI helps translate business questions into neutral, structured survey questions in seconds. You remain fully in control: review, edit, and refine before launch. The AI accelerates execution-it does not replace human judgment.

3. Do I need technical or research expertise?

No. Brainactive is designed to be accessible to non-researchers while still meeting professional standards. Experienced researchers use it to save time; non-experts use it to avoid common mistakes.

4. What types of surveys can I run?

Brainactive supports a wide range of quantitative research scenarios, including NPS, concept testing, pricing studies, brand and communication research, and MaxDiff-style tasks.

The platform supports professional survey design with logic, quotas, media testing, and advanced question structures.

5. Can I edit a survey after it’s live?

Once fieldwork starts, questions cannot be edited to protect data integrity. You can pause the survey at any time and relaunch a revised version. You only pay for completed responses.

Audience, sampling & data quality

1. What audiences can I use?

You have three main options:

Your own audience (customers, users, lists)

Survey links hosted in Brainactive but distributed elsewhere (such as your own panel or a 3rd party panel)

This flexibility allows Brainactive to fit into almost any research setup.

2. Who are the panel respondents?

Respondents come from large, vetted online panels and are profiled across demographics and behaviors. Multiple layers of identity and quality checks ensure responses come from real, engaged people-not bots or duplicates.

3. How does Brainactive ensure data quality?

Brainactive applies automated and manual safeguards, including:

Digital fingerprinting and deduplication

CAPTCHA and identity verification

Speeding and straightlining detection

Open-end quality checks

Consistency validation

Quality controls run continuously during fieldwork, not just after data collection.

For a detailed breakdown of sampling logic, validation layers, and methodology, see our Data Quality & Methodology page.

4. Can I identify individual respondents?

No. Brainactive follows ESOMAR and international privacy standards. Responses are anonymous unless explicit consent and a valid research reason exist (e.g. product testing with shipment).

AI, responsibility & reliability

1. How much of Brainactive is AI-driven, and what is the human role?

AI in Brainactive accelerates execution - helping with questionnaire structure, wording suggestions, and faster analysis.

Humans remain fully responsible for:

Reviewing and approving questionnaires

Interpreting results

Making business decisions

AI is an assistant, not a substitute for thinking or accountability.

2. Can Brainactive results be used for senior leadership or external decisions?

Yes - when used correctly.

Brainactive provides professional-grade tools, quality controls, and transparent sampling. Many clients use Brainactive insights in leadership presentations, client deliverables, and go-to-market decisions.

As with any research, outcome quality depends on clear objectives, appropriate sample design, and thoughtful interpretation.

Teams, governance & ecosystem

1. How do teams maintain consistency when multiple people use Brainactive?

Brainactive supports team-based workflows through shared projects, templates, and controlled access levels, especially on Team and Enterprise plans.

This allows organizations to:

Standardize questionnaires and methodologies

Maintain visibility across projects

Balance flexibility with governance

Brainactive can scale from an individual tool into a shared research capability.

2. How does Brainactive relate to synthetic tools like Syntheo or Correlix?

Brainactive focuses on research with real people, collecting primary data from actual respondents.

Synthetic tools such as Syntheo or Correlix address different needs, like early-stage exploration, hard-to-reach audiences, or bias correction. They are complementary, not interchangeable.

Brainactive is typically used as a source of ground truth.

Pricing, timing & support

1. How much does Brainactive cost?

Pricing depends on:

Your subscription plan

Whether you use your own audience or external panels

Sample size and survey length

Panel responses typically cost around $1–2 per completed response, depending on market, audience complexity, and survey length. The full cost is shown before launch and does not change during fieldwork.

How responses are counted

Subscription response limits apply to responses collected from your own audience or from third-party panels you connect to Brainactive.

Responses purchased from the Brainactive Audience are priced separately and do not count toward your subscription limits.

2. How fast are the results?

Surveys can be built and launched in minutes. Results often start coming in within minutes, and a standard 1,000-response general population study typically completes in 1–2 hours.

3. Do you follow industry standards?

Yes. Brainactive adheres to ESOMAR guidelines and international market research best practices.

4. What support is available?

Support is available via live chat and email during extended business hours. Enterprise plans include dedicated support and governance options.

5. What is your refund policy?

Refunds are reviewed case by case. Data quality issues are typically resolved quickly. Audience costs already paid to suppliers cannot usually be refunded. Full details are available via support.
